When organizing deep cabinets, put a list of items that are in the back of the cabinet on the inside of the door for reference. It'll save lots of time trying to remember and locate these things when they're needed.
You're more apt to throw rubbish away in a timely manner if the wastebasket is easily accessible. Keep a wastebasket in each room of your home and at your side as you do projects.
The rule of thumb for determining what to keep and what to purge: If you haven't used/needed it in a year you don't need it. Eliminate it to make room for needed items.
Keep like items together in the area they are used.
Keep the labels on canned goods forward so you can easily see what you have. When replenishing the stock, rotate the older ones forward.
Put a large X (or any mark) on opened containers for easy access and to prevent having two of the same items opened.
